Why this site says MI, not AI

The term Machine Intelligence (MI) is used in place of Artificial Intelligence (AI) wherever reasonably possible. The distinction is deliberate: MI is used to describe machine-based intelligent capability that operates within a human-governed structure of identity, authorization, and accountability — a system that can act only after a person or institution has been verified, and only within the bounds a human governance body has set. We believe the term AI is not accurate, honest, or useful, and therefore we encourage the adoption of MI wherever possible.
